In recent years New Energy Husum has established itself as one of the most important renewable energy exhibitions and trade fairs. It has served as a showcase for decentralised energy generation using all kinds of renewable sources since 2002. Topics and techniques range from small wind turbines (up to 30 kW), biogas, solid biomass (pellets, logs and wood chips for heating systems), solar heating, photovoltaics, electromobility, near-surface geothermal energy generation, energy storage, energy-efficient construction, and mini-CHP's. From 15 to 18 March 2012, leading manufacturers and renewable energy experts will be meeting once again in the North Frisian town of Husum to set the course for the innovations needed in this rapidly growing market. The 10th anniversary fair in spring 2012 is expected to draw around 300 exhibitors and 18,000 visitors from around the world. New Energy Husum offers 16,000 sq m of exhibition space.
Husum already enjoys an excellent reputation in the wind industry, having hosted the leading international wind exhibition, HUSUM WindEnergy, for over 20 years. For over two decades this has been the venue where the international wind industry has met to showcase and discuss the latest developments, trends and technology. Of all the world's exhibitions and trade fairs, no other location embodies the dawning of a new, climate-friendly era better than Husum - and this was all long before the decision was made to phase out nuclear power. Husum's international image is a source of inspiration, and the rapid success of this wind-rich port on the North Sea coast has resulted in an early appreciation of the importance of climate-neutral energy generation. And over the last few years, the Husum Exhibition & Congress Centre was brave and foresighted enough to press ahead as the showcase for new energy, just as it did with wind ? another pioneering industry that found its home in Husum.
Forum for achieving a grass roots shift to using renewable energy
This is the showcase for manufacturers, developers, installers, plant operators, planners, project managers and financing providers, impressing visitors with a rich and varied range of products and services concentrated in one spot. Their ideas provide inspiration for new ways of thinking, and show how anyone can opt out of using traditional energy sources and switch to renewables, whether they are private individuals, businesses or local communities. Parallel to the exhibition, Husum hosts an extensive programme of congress events. Besides a series of other subjects, New Energy Husum is also the venue for the 3rd World Summit of Small Wind Turbines, jointly organised by the World Wind Energy Association (WWEA) and the German Wind Energy Association (BWE). The world summit strongly emphasises Husum's position as the exhibition capital of the world's small wind turbine industry.
The New Energy Husum show in March 2012 broke all records. Around 250 exhibitors from 14 nations showed products and concepts covering all areas of renewable energy and energy efficiency. Here the main emphasis was on small wind turbines and electromobility. Solar energy was also one of the main areas of interest, with exhibitors and visitors showing particular interest in the increasing efficiency of solar modules and plants. Further growth is expected for 2013, and the fact that New Energy is always held in springtime is always a source of inspiration, especially now that nuclear power is being phased out. The target in the coming years is 100 per cent renewable energy. A great challenge, for which Husum is best equipped to continue as the pre-eminent exhibition venue.
